Don’t Give Away Your Power - Own Your Career

Many embark on a career journey with a desire for success, often unknowingly transferring their power from self to employer. This paradigm shift, reliant on external validation, can lead to a skewed definition of success and a loss of self.

It's crucial not to surrender power to employers. Instead, we should be clear about the role they play in our lives—defining precisely the role we want them to assume, nothing more, nothing less. Employers shouldn't shape our identity or purpose; we are the architects of our own narrative.

The cautionary phrase "Don't drink the Kool-Aid" underscores the risk of reckless devotion to external beliefs. Originating from a tragic incident in Guyana, my home country, it serves as a stark reminder not to lose our ability to think independently, especially regarding choices that impact ourselves and our families.

Similarly, the corporate construct shouldn't engulf us entirely; rather, it should serve as a steppingstone toward our desired destinations. According to the Challenger report published by Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. in September 2023, planned layoffs were up 198% compared to the same month in 2022. This is a staggering figure and I can’t help but think about the families that were impacted. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your level of preparation and point of view, at some point in your career more and more corporate professionals are caught in a shift in strategy, downsizing, job elimination or whatever creative term that is used to communicate, you are no longer employed with your company. My intention with creating the “Both Framework” is to ensure every woman is prepared for that shift and that preparation should start while you are still employed. You may say, I am one of the lucky ones, I won’t be impacted. The beauty in developing a blueprint for your pivot plan is whether you make the decision or the decision is made for you, you are ready!

In the "You Can Have Both" training, my job is to get you ready. I will guide you in the development of a blueprint to live in your purpose, leveraging your current expertise as the pivot point for a purposeful life.

While your path may differ from mine, the right blueprint, focus, and commitment can help you create a life that transcends limitations. You can pursue your purpose without jeopardizing the financial security you've diligently worked to obtain. It's time to redefine success on your terms and build a life where you truly can have both.

Reclaim your power and be the architect of your own success and purpose. Be the architect of your “You Can Have Both” journey.
